An evolving acoustic sculpture fostering play, rest, and connection in the heart of Shanghai’s Jing’an Sculpture Park.
OTONOMORI – Sound Forest is an evolving acoustic sculpture that transforms Shanghai’s Jing’an Sculpture Park into a vibrant gathering space for rest, play, and communication—elements often lacking in modern urban life.
I believe public art should not only exist within a space but actively shape and respond to its community. Designed as an inviting and playful landmark, this installation integrates interactive elements—part playground, part street furniture—encouraging spontaneous interaction and connection. Through sound, OTONOMORI fosters a sense of place, bringing people together in shared experience.
As it evolves over time, adapting to community engagement, the work becomes more than a sculpture—it becomes a living part of the city, an icon of togetherness in the heart of Shanghai.
